Hybrid Pneumatic / Hydraulic Power Unit

Cross Custom Solution

Customer asked Cross to provide a pneumatic system that would eliminate the 480V 3phase electric motor and ANY electric controls from a tilt table used in the production of large electrical control cabinets. (they did not want electric cables across floor).

The old system used an electric HPU,control cabinet, motor starter, 4 control relays, electrical limit switches to control end of stroke and a 4 button pendant to operate the 2 axis table and two electrically controlled hydraulic directional control valves.

The Cross solution was to use a Sempress 1 HP NEMA56C air motor to replace the old electric motor. Numatics push button valves, shuttle valves and Cammozi limit switches were used to duplicate the electrical logic functions. Vickers air pilot directional valve replaced the original electrical valves, a Numatics 42 series FRL with OSHA lockout and Granzow poppet valve was used to provided the 300+ SCFM to the air motor.

The air circuit was designed to exactly duplicate its electrical counterpart in performance and functionality.
