Ensuring Compliance And Smooth Operation For Biogas Facilities

Biogas systems at industrial manufacturing sites are necessary for EPA compliance and can also provide cost savings if the reclaimed gas is used for fuel. However, we frequently find that while the intentions of specifying and installing a system are good, the implementation at the plant level can be less than ideal.

Cross hears frequently that “an engineer at HQ” designed the system and had it installed but it’s either not working properly or it worked for a while but now isn’t. What’s missing is troubleshooting and field service to either dial in the system correctly or repair it and get it back online.

FCI Case Study: Better control over chlorine gas flow for a city water municipality

Water and Wastewater Industry Newsletter - May 2024 3
Water and Wastewater Industry Newsletter - May 2024 4

The chlorinator at a city water department in the Midwest lacked suitable turndown capacity, was not repeatable and there was no consistency for totalized monthly chlorine usage, so clearly something had to change. This poor chlorine control resulted in either excessive use or expensive retreatment. The engineers at the water plant worked with the applications team at FCI to specify a Model ST100L to achieve consistent, accurate and repeatable flow measurement.

Did You Know?

If you aren’t regularly verifying the proper operation of your gas detectors, your team could be at risk. Beyond regular calibrations, it is advisable to routinely verify the function of your detectors. Cross has a team of highly trained service technicians to help!

Improve Efficiency

We are excited to announce the launch of the latest addition to the M4Knick product line: The K25 four-electrode conductivity sensor. The K25 is designed for applications with heavily polluted and fibrous media, as well as highly corrosive chemical processes.

Features and benefits include a wide measuring range of 0-1,000 mS/cm, and durable PEEK body. In addition, this unit pairs easily with standard static and retractable holders due to 12 mm diameter. It also has an integrated temperature element for accurate temperature compensation.

Reduce Risk

Dräger Electrochemical (EC) sensors outperform other sensors in terms of longevity & accuracy. Their larger design, featuring a patented Teflon housing, enhances robustness. The specially formulated electrolyte, with a higher quantity, contributes to a longer life cycle and superior catalytic performance, allowing the sensor to withstand extreme environmental conditions that may incapacitate smaller competitor sensors.
