Application Note: pH Measurement System for Pharmaceutical Manufacturer
Cross Helps Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Improve pH Measurement Process
A pharmaceutical manufacturer located in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park was experiencing some issues with their automated pH measurement system. The existing systems were used for monitoring pH in their critical utilities wastewater treatment area. The existing systems were obsolete and required frequent maintenance due to operational challenges and measurement inaccuracies. Those issues cost thousands in maintenance and repair time for a system that should be mostly automated.
Cross partnered with M4 Knick to offer Unical 9000 which is an engineered system that integrates Protos, SensoGate and Memosens sensor for automated and customizable measurement, cleaning, calibration and communication. The new system is more accurate and requires less maintenance.
What’s unique about this system is that it tracks calibration results and diagnostics such as sensor wear, glass impedance, operation time and sensor lifetime for predictive maintenance purposes. This data helps the user to determine the needed calibration intervals to get accurate readings without unnecessarily wasting buffer solution. In addition, because the solution is managed at the Sensogate, the hoses do not have to be flushed every time wasting additional buffer solution.

The new pH monitoring system has helped the customer to improve the quality of their measurement data and reduce their risk of downtime for maintenance and repairs.
