The Importance of Proper Flow Meter Installation
One of the most critical considerations when it comes to flow meters is proper installation. When a flow meter is being installed in a higher-level machine or even within a pipe system, there are several considerations that have to be taken into account.
A preliminary consideration is vibration control. The mounting location should avoid excessive vibrations which could potentially cause damage to the flow sensor. This can also cause inaccurate readings.
A second important consideration is the flow direction. Determining the correct flow direction is essential. The flow direction is typically indicated on the nameplate and can be positive (from – to +) or negative (from + to –). Mounting incorrectly relative to flow direction will produce inaccurate readings (or no readings at all).
A final consideration is the parameters of your system itself. All system parameters must be configured before commissioning. Depending on the version of your flow meter, configuration and operation can be managed via dedicated software or a display interface.
